Why have a marine survey?
If you are intending to purchase, insure, finance, and commercially operate a boat or if it has been damaged, you should be considering engaging a marine surveyor. Andy’s Marine Services provides his clients with a professional opinion of the vessels condition, comments on its defects and makes recommendations for repairs.
I am buying a boat, what type of survey do I need?
If you are looking to buy a boat a "Full Pre-Purchase Condition Survey" is the most appropriate type of survey giving a more detailed and in-depth survey.
This survey is normally required by the Owner or prospective Owner of the craft for the purpose of obtaining insurance, finance or as security for a loan, or indeed just for the Owners use.
A pre-purchase and condition survey is considered to ascertain the structural condition of the craft. All other items are inspected on a non-intrusive, visual basis only unless specifically agreed in the contract of survey.
My insurance company requires my boat to be surveyed and/or valued, how does this work?
Insurance or finance companies will often request a condition report and/or valuation of an appraisal by a surveyor as a requirement for cover; a “Hull Condition Survey” is normally required to report on the vessel’s structural condition, with recommendations concerning its safe operation.
A “Valuation Survey” may be requested by the insurance company to give the vessel’s current market value.
My boat has been damaged.
A “Damage Survey” would be required if the craft has suffered any form of damage from what ever cause, and is required for insurance.
A detailed damage inspection is carried out to ascertain what damage has been done and what is required to repair it to its original condition.
Do you have professional indemnity insurance?
Andy’s Marine Services has professional indemnity insurance cover, and liability cover.
