  • The Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) covers all the systems present on boats that could be hazardous for people on board, in adjacent boats or on the towpath. As a boat-owner, it is your responsibility to ensure that the boat meets the requirements of the BoatSafety Scheme at all times – similar to the MOT test for road vehicles. Basically it is carried out every four years from when the last examination was done. It has been endorsed by all the UK navigation authorities and is a Legal Requirement.
